What do you do when it seems like the world has gone crazy? How do you cope? The news and our social media accounts bombard us with news of sickness and strife happening way too close to home. I’ve had friends and family suffer because of the Coronavirus. Some have lost jobs, their health, and even their lives. The disconnect among the people of this country grew to mammoth proportions after the attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6. I have friends and family on both sides of the issues that divide our nation right now. I have to say, there are times when I should bite my tongue, and I don’t. There are times when I should speak up for what is right, and I don’t. How are we supposed to live as Christ wants us to live when it appears that the world is running amok?
Sometimes I am overwhelmed. When that happens, I need hope, love, joy and peace to sustain me through it all. Looking to scripture and prayer for guidance gives me comfort and keeps me grounded in what is important.
I decided to start this devotional blog centered around bible verses of hope, love, joy, and peace in order to find support in God’s faithful Word and think about how I might apply it in my daily life. Periodically I will post a devotion based on a bible passage related to one of those themes. I pray that these little devotional readings and prayers will be uplifting and useful to others as well.
About Me
I’m a teacher, a wife, a mom to a rescue dog, and a Christian. I’m no expert in Christian theology or biblical studies. I don’t have answers to life’s issues. I eat too much and say the wrong things at the wrong time. I believe reading scripture can help us discern how to live as followers of Christ with hearts grounded in hope, love, joy, and peace. I’m trying to make sense of what I read and apply what I learn to my everyday life.
